Its a New Year but we have the same goal

To change the way plumbing supplies are sold in Australia, to a trade only industry.

NO DIY is something Plumbers Choice is very passionate about. Many people don’t believe we turn away weekend warriors, home handymen, builders and more each and every day. 

In Australia over 3,300 people are hospitalised each year as a result of doing DIY work. With a large number of these being plumbing work. 

So while some suppliers are after a quick buck and will sell to anyone, our Trade Only policy is extremely strict.

A quick buck is not worth a life, nor is it worth ruining our industry. We want to support those who support us and try to help ensure there are not only less DIY deaths but plumbers’ livelihoods are protected too so the industry can be as strong as ever for the next generation of plumbers.

Next Generation Plumbers’

Plumbers Choice has been proudly Trade Only since we opened our doors. Only selling to licensed plumbers is not only our way to support the industry but our way to help the industry grow and protect its future.

The future of plumbing is in the next generation of plumbers’ hands, so what better way to promote the plumbing industry to our future generations of plumbers than with a Christmas themed colouring competition!

To enter, simply send a photo of your next generation plumber with their coloured in front cover of this magazine to [email protected] and place an order with Plumbers Choice before December 31st 2022.

Plumbers Choice continuing to innovate the Plumbing Industry

Proudly Trade Only

Plumbers Choice has been proudly Trade Only since we first opened back in 1996. Shortly after that we started to produce the Plumbers Choice Trade Only Newsletter.

176 Editions later and it has become a staple to plumbers Australia wide, a regular on the dunny floor, a frequent on trade counters. While we have no doubt some may end up in the bin, too many of you it has become a ritual to flick through once you grab it out of your letterbox. Despite so many religiously reading it, the message is still not clear, we still do not have a Trade Only industry.

We’d love to hear from you all, from those of you who support Trade Only but also from those of you who are happy to pay your licence fees and are subject to the bureaucratic overheads that plumbers have to deal with, just so you can support a supplier who will still sell to the public (Who not only  costs you work but also profits by selling products to your potential customer.)

So we’d love to hear why you support trade only or why you don’t and if so what more could be done?

Where’s Jacko?

Plumbers Choice was the first Trade Only Plumbing Supplier in the country, it’s something to this day we are very proud of. Since then we are just as proud of the other suppliers who have followed suit in trying to change our industry for the better and have now become Trade Only also.

Jacko has been a regular in our Magazines since day dot, he has been a symbol for a Trade Only Plumbing Industry. While the major suppliers are nowhere to be found, our friend Jacko is.

The new year begins!

For most of us, going back to work in January gives us an opportunity to look to the year ahead. This fresh thinking opens up a world of opportunities. Do we change things up or plough on like we never left? What is possible in the year ahead? AT PLUMBERS CHOICE WE LOVE BEING THE ODD ONE OUT.

From day one Plumbers Choice has always been a bit of a misfit in the plumbing industry and that is the way we like it.

In the beginning, rather than setting up a retail branch network, we operated out of wholesale distribution centres. This gives our model a cost advantage over our competitors. We love passing on this advantage in the form of great value to plumbing businesses. We also love product innovation. These innovations make the working lives of plumbers easier and more productive. Plumbers who deal with us understand how important it is to stay ahead of the pack. Traditional plumbing supplies generally need to be dragged kicking and screaming to take on new products. When you run an old style branch network the flow of new products is difficult.

The difference we are most passionate about is our Trade Only stance. Our policy of only supporting the plumbing trade has made us laser focused on the needs of tradesmen and plumbing businesses.
